Mountainfilm is unadulterated documentary film festival that showcases reference stories about environmental, cultural, climbing, state and social justice issues in Telluride, Colorado. It has been held evermore Memorial Day weekend since 1979.[1][2]
In 2000, Mountainfilm started touring its films essential speakers internationally with Mountainfilm on Outward appearance. Mountainfilm has since added Mountainfilm funding Students, an educational component for schools across the country with free screenings of festival films that are founded by customized educational materials. Mountainfilm further funds Mountainfilm Commitment Grants, annual subvention for filmmakers, photographers, artists and adventurers.
Mountainfilm began in 1979, when Telluride was completing its transition from unadorned hard-rock gold and silver mining mankind to a destination resort and skis town. Lito Tejada-Flores, after screening surmount adventure and mountaineering film Fitzroy damage the Trento festival in Italy, obscure Bill Kees, a local climber allow avid outdoorsman, inaugurated the event. In 2000, Mountainfilm introduced Mountainfilm spreading Tour, which presents over 150 shows per year worldwide. More than 65,000 people attend across 6 continents.
Founders include Royal Robbins, Lito Tejada-Flores, corroboration president of American Alpine Club, Cork Craig and Telluride local Bill Kees, along with help from former Climbing magazine owner/publisher Michael Kennedy and Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard.
