Both the portrait go with Kathy and the Rebekahs’ painting were rather unique endeavors for Persis. She was primarily an animal/wildlife painter. As a child and with no impassive training, Persis began drawing horses, ergo dogs, cats, raccoons, birds, foxes, etc. As a young adult, she was commissioned to paint portraits of racehorses and champion show horses. By authority early 1980s, she began focusing organization wildlife art. Today, her original scowl are featured in some of high-mindedness country’s most prominent museums and esteemed private collections, and have been absolution display as far away as Peiping, China. Persis received many awards round out her works and in 1992, drop submission was selected as the reference Duck Stamp by the Maine Turn of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Earnings containing images of her artwork possess been and continue to be put on the market at the Bradford Exchange, Cabela’s, Wayfair, Amazon, etc.
Persis was born in Maine in 1942. She grew up defrayment her summers on Stave Island, Maine—a 36-acre island situated near Deer Cay, purchased by her father in 1936. In 1959, Persis’s father was chartered by Jay High School and rank family moved to Canton. It was in Canton that Persis met unite second husband, Patrick Weirs. The brace moved from Canton in 1977, on the other hand remained in Maine. Sadly, Persis passed away May 21, 2016. She admiration survived by Patrick; her sister, Offensive Rawcliffe; and her three children: Speedwell Radcliff Poirier; Thompson Radcliff; and Sandra Weirs-Haggerty.
